Youth Week 2014

Youth Week – 4 to 13 April – is a week to celebrate our young people, and is there a better way to do that than put on a festival? Yes, put on TWO!

Cranebrook Youth Festival 2014

Cranebrook Youth Week Festival

It was all happening at Sherringham Ovals on Tuesday and Wednesday – from football to snakes and ladders, fairy floss to barbeque, balloon making to horizontal bungee.

Kids came from all around to join in the celebration, and it was fantastic to see them take part in so many activites, having fun with their friends, and engaging with staff. Faces were painted, tattoos applied, loom bands made and shared, and teeth turned blue from fairy floss. Competition was fierce – and hilarious – in the four-way tug of war, Austag games, and mini hockey.

It was two days of crazy, noisy, fun!

Valley Youth Festival

On Friday, Jamison Skate Park was home to the free Valley Youth Festival.
12 to 24 year olds were able to come along to enjoy fantastic live music, Outback Steakhouse fired up the barbeque, and there were fun and games to be had. One very lucky girl even won a $500 Martinez guitar!

NCNS are always excited to be involved in projects like these. Not only do we get to work alongside other services, but most importantly, we get to engage with our local young people, and provide them with experiences and opportunities to interact with others, and make them smile.
