Kingswood Park Public School was the venue for NCNS’ National Reconciliation Week event this year.
After a special assembly that included a beautiful performance by our very own Walan Mahlee Aboriginal Girls Dance Group (check out the video here), the children where broken into groups, and began the adventure of moving throughout the wide variety of cultural activities – including painting feet to support the theme of Walk the Talk, an artefacts display and talk, painting of faces and bodies, good bush tucker, and finishing up with a sausage sizzle.
The older kids did a wonderful job of helping the younger kids move through and participate in all the activities. There was lots of conversation about reconciliation and what it means to the children, and it was fantastic to listen to the kids’ stories and their questions.
