National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day 2014

Each year on 4th August is National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day, and this year we celebrated at Kooly with kids from local playgroups and preschools.

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day is a day for all Australians to celebrate our Aboriginal children, their culture and the strengths they bring to our community.

This year’s theme was Kids in Culture – Strong, Proud, Resilient. We celebrated in style, with a Welcome to Country, cultural talks, lots of bush food including scones and damper, and Aboriginal craft. To add to the fun (and sometimes chaos) there was also a jumping castle, plus a visit by Rooby Roo!

There was a great turnout, with 140 adults and kids joining in, and a fantastic day was had by all.
