Kingswood Park Kids are back in action, moving to a new location at North Penrith Community Centre, due to Covid-19 restrictions.
On Tuesday afternoons the group will either walk or some catch our bus directly after school. It has been amazing to see these children so competent in reducing the risk of Covid-19, they are helpful and reliable with taking all the precautions required.
This group runs from 3:15pm to 4:45pm, giving the children plenty of time to play and explore together in a safe environment. The children love afternoon tea time and share stories daily as they eat.
We would like to thank Coles, as majority of the afternoon tea items have been donated by them as well as Cathy from our Breakfast Club.
This month the children have been working on String Art Carpentry. The use of hammers has been popular and the children are developing their hand eye coordination, fine motor skills and risk management ideas. This project will run over the term as it involves a lot of details, concentration and persistence.
Lego designs, dancing, rapping, bead making as well as the popular hand ball tournaments happen every Tuesday.
One of our goals for the group is to assist the children to expand their self-help skills, creativity and acceptance of others.
During term 3 we will also learn some basic cooking skills, pancakes and home made pizzas. YUM!
Once restrictions are reduced, we are aiming to put on a feast for the families that the children will create the menu, prepare and serve.
This group is currently full and has a waiting list. (This is due to limitations from Covid-19 Restrictions) We hope once restrictions have been reduced we can make this a larger group!
Watch this space!
