Holi Festival of Colours

Holi is a Hindu festival that marks the end of winter and is usually performed in March. The festival is rooted in Hindu mythology and celebrates the triumph of good over evil.

On Saturday 10th March, Thornton Residents had their own Holi Festival of Colours, where each colour represents a different meaning.

Red is for love and fertility, Yellow is the colour of turmeric – a native spice to India that is used for natural remedies, Blue represents the Hindu God Krishna and Green is for new beginnings.

It was a great night, filled with colour, fun, food and fantastic Masala Chai Tea!

Thank you to the great volunteers and organisers – Nelpa, Pranav, Hariprasaad, Saira, Ramesh, Sai, Subodh, Shivam, Paresh, Tahura and Lassata.
