Cranebrook Housing Clean Up and Maintenance Day

You might have seen us on A Current Affair last week. NCNS staff along with our friends at Housing NSW, Land and Housing Corp. NSW and Wentworth Housing worked together on a massive community maintenance and clean-up day for the Cranebrook Housing Estate.

The day looked like a party with Matt’s coffee van, a BBQ, kids activities and housing giveaway of groceries Staples Bags from SSI.

While we were having fun there was a huge team of tradies on hand. Residents were able to register small repair jobs like broken taps, fences and flyscreens. The tradies went out on the day and fixed loads of jobs on the day. Bigger jobs were scheduled for the next couple of days. Additionally a number of skip bins were placed around the community and everybody got into the spirit of the clean-up.

What was wonderful to see was the way the community worked together. NCNS staff were out assisting single parents and elderly people to clean up their properties and what was great was that neighbours and young people from surrounding properties came and helped. Everyone pitched in to help each other and there was a real sense of community sharing and pride.
Cranebrook residents were celebrating the day, everyone’s homes got a little bit of extra attention and a lot of good will was built up in the community.

Congratulations to the Penrith Housing team on organising such a great event. The visit from Minister Pru Goward and Minister Stuart Ayres added to the importance of the event. Having A Current Affair there and seeing themselves on telly that night was a great buzz for the community.
